The PROBLEM is that shared folders seem to "mount" in the VB but I do not have permission to open them GUEST is Ubuntu 10.04 running in VirtualBox 4.0.4
This is especially true as am new to BOTH MAC OS & Ubuntu (Windoz Refugee))
HOST is Apple OSX Snow Leopard (so, as you may suspect, hand-holding will be needed. Perhaps in large part because it was never clear to me which machine was being referenced in the mount command Sadly, none of the suggestions have worked. If that doesn’t work I recommend restarting your computer. The most common cause of this not working is forgetting to reload the permissions by logging out and back in. This will reload the group with the new permissions. This can easily be done by logging out of Linux and logging back in. Once the new group has been added you need to reload the groups for that user. This is because the only users allowed to mount shared folders are those in the vboxsf group.
